According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have initiated discussions regarding a potential transfer for Olympique Lyonnais attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki, aged 21.
Recently called up for the first time to the France national squad, Cherki had previously announced his intention to depart his formative club, Lyon, this summer.
His impressive campaign, featuring 12 goals and registering 20 assists (including eight in the UEFA Europa League), has drawn significant interest from clubs across Europe, particularly in the Premier League.
Other English top-flight sides like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with a move for the Frenchman.
However, Manchester City`s interest appears to be the most advanced, with Romano reporting that they have now made contact to open initial talks.
The Italian journalist indicates that Cherki is a primary target for the Cityzens as they look to recruit a new No. 10 this summer.
The 21-year-old is reportedly already aware of the Premier League club`s interest.
