Lyon’s DNCG Appeal to be Heard Next Week

Football News

The appeal submitted by Olympique Lyonnais concerning the DNCG`s decision is scheduled to be examined next Thursday, July 10th. The club, which is currently facing financial difficulties, is aiming to reverse the unexpected relegation to Ligue 2 that was imposed last month by French football`s financial watchdog.

Just one week prior, the DNCG (Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion) officially confirmed Lyon’s demotion. This followed an earlier warning. The decision, made by the body affiliated with the LFP, cited persistent concerns regarding OL’s financial guarantees.

Michele Kang, who has just taken over as the new club president this week, has been tasked with leading Lyon`s appeal presentation before the DNCG division linked to the French Football Federation (FFF).

The outcome of this hearing is extremely significant. Should Lyon successfully appeal and maintain their position in Ligue 1, they will also be eligible to participate in the UEFA Europa League during the 2025–26 season. However, if the DNCG’s initial ruling is upheld, OL will remain in Ligue 2 and will be prohibited from competing in European tournaments for the upcoming campaign.
