Lyon Sets €60m Price Tag on Malick Fofana, Attracting Premier League & European Giants

Football News

Lyon has reportedly placed a hefty €60 million valuation on their 20-year-old Belgian international winger, Malick Fofana. This high price comes as the player garners significant interest from several prominent Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

It is suggested that Lyon, currently navigating financial challenges that even saw them face a potential Ligue 2 relegation (a decision they plan to appeal), is looking to instigate a bidding war among interested parties to maximize the profit generated from Fofana`s potential sale.

Fofana joined Lyon just eighteen months ago in a transfer from Gent valued at €17 million. His market value has since surged considerably. During his time with Lyon, the young winger has made 62 appearances, contributing 15 goals and providing 7 assists. Reports indicate that the club`s former president, John Textor, had already anticipated Fofana`s sale during the summer transfer window, according to discussions with French football regulators (DNCG).

Beyond the trio of English giants – Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea – other clubs reportedly showing interest in Fofana`s sought-after skillset include Fulham, Nottingham Forest, RB Leipzig, Napoli, and Bayern Munich.

Although there were previous reports suggesting Nottingham Forest had agreed a deal for the player, more recent information indicates that a move to Nuno Espirito Santo`s side is highly improbable. This is because Fofana is understood to be aiming for a transfer to a major European club that is participating in the Champions League. Sources close to the player suggest his agency is currently in discussions with clubs of the caliber of Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
