Manchester City`s initial offer to sign Lyon`s talented 21-year-old attacker, Rayan Cherki, has been turned down by the French club.
Reports indicate that Manchester City has already reached an agreement on personal terms with Cherki. However, they now face the task of finding common ground with Olympique Lyonnais regarding the transfer fee.
Lyon reportedly values the dynamic playmaker at a figure between €35 million and €40 million. Manchester City`s first bid, however, fell considerably short of this asking price.
The opening offer from the English Premier League champions was worth €23 million, which Lyon promptly rejected.
Despite this initial setback, Cherki is understood to be a priority target for Manchester City for this specific position. Consequently, an improved bid is widely anticipated soon.
