Lyon Must Raise €200m to Overturn Relegation Decision

Football News

According to a report from L`Équipe, Olympique Lyonnais (OL) is now aware of the significant financial capital they must raise to successfully appeal the DNCG`s decision to relegate them to Ligue 2. OL`s appeal before the French football financial watchdog is scheduled for July 10th.

The club has reportedly been informed that a total of €200 million is needed to reverse their administrative demotion to the French second tier. Crucially, €100 million of this amount must be actively available in the club`s accounts within the remaining 7 days before the appeal hearing.

Furthermore, Lyon will need to demonstrate a clear plan for securing an additional €100 million before the season concludes. This subsequent sum is expected to be generated through potential competition prize money and player sales. Club owner John Textor will not be present at the DNCG appeal meeting; the club will be represented by the new OL president and chairwoman Michelle Kang, joined by General Manager Michael Gerlinger.
