Reports suggest that PSG`s Sporting Director, Luis Campos, is poised to extend his tenure. According to RMC Sport`s Fabrice Hawkins, significant progress has been made in recent contract talks between the Ligue 1 champions and the Portuguese executive. Campos` existing contract expires in June of next year. There had been interest from Premier League clubs in Campos, and Get French Football News previously reported that he was in discussions with another major European side.
Since taking on the Sporting Director role in 2022, Campos has led a significant transformation at PSG. He has implemented a new strategy, shifting the focus away from acquiring global superstars towards developing or signing talented players from France and the club`s own academy. PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is understood to have strongly advocated for Campos` contract extension, and coach Luis Enrique also supported the Portuguese official.
RMC Sport further reports that Campos is already actively planning for PSG`s upcoming summer transfer window. The executive, formerly with Lille and Monaco, is reportedly searching for a right-sided central defender, as the Ligue 1 champions aim to find a long-term successor for their captain, Marquinhos.
