Lille OSC is reportedly close to finalizing the signing of Udinese striker Vivaldo Semedo, aged 20. According to L`Équipe, Semedo was initially expected to join English Championship club Watford, but Lille intervened at the last moment.
Lille has already confirmed the signing of Olivier Giroud on a free transfer. The club, which will participate in the UEFA Europa League next season, is also in negotiations to sign Hamza Igamane from Rangers. Concurrently, they are nearing completion of a deal for the young Portuguese forward Semedo, currently based in Italy.
The French club is close to reaching an agreement with Udinese for a transfer fee reported to be around €3 million. Last season, while on loan at Portuguese second-division team Vizela, Semedo scored nine goals and provided four assists.
L`Équipe reports that before Lille made their late move, Semedo was close to finalizing a transfer to Watford. He still needs to pass a medical examination before officially signing a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 team.
