Leweling Boost for VfB Stuttgart: Could He Face Borussia Dortmund?

VfB Stuttgart’s striker, Jamie Leweling, aged 25, has resumed full training and might be available for the upcoming Bundesliga Topspiel against Borussia Dortmund this weekend. The German international had been sidelined from VfB’s previous match and subsequent national team fixtures due to a calf injury.

During Thursday’s press conference, head coach Sebastian Hoeneß confirmed Leweling’s participation in training. Hoeneß stated, “He completed a full training session yesterday. We tested him the day before, and everything went smoothly; his calf is holding up well,” looking ahead to Saturday’s game.

Despite the possibility of Leweling, who boasts an impressive record of seven goals and six assists in 25 Bundesliga appearances during the 2025/26 season, featuring against Dortmund, Hoeneß stressed a careful approach to the forward’s reintegration. “I will continue to monitor him closely over the next two days,” he added. “Jamie is, naturally, a player who can be brought back into the game relatively quickly.”
