Lens Actively Seeking New Head Coach

Football News

Almost two weeks have passed since Will Still announced his surprising departure from RC Lens. He has since secured a new position with EFL Championship side Southampton. However, his former club, Lens, appears no closer to identifying and appointing his successor.

Luís Castro from USL Dunkerque was initially considered a potential candidate. Nevertheless, reports suggest the Portuguese manager is nearing a move to FC Nantes instead. Lens is reportedly reluctant to meet the compensation demands set by Dunkerque for Castro`s release. According to Foot Mercato, three alternative names remain under consideration by Les Sang et Or. These include EA Guingamp`s current manager, Sylvain Ripoll.

Ripoll successfully guided Guingamp to the promotion play-offs in Ligue 2 during the previous season. Consequently, the second-division club is reportedly looking to offer him a contract extension. Lens` expressed interest in Ripoll`s services could potentially disrupt Guingamp`s plans. Other candidates reportedly being considered are former Olympique Lyonnais manager Pierre Sage and former Schalke head coach Karel Geraerts.
