Lecce choose Di Francesco as new coach for 2025-26, despite Venezia failure

Football News

US Lecce appears to have found their new head coach for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign, with reports indicating an agreement has been reached with Eusebio Di Francesco.

The Salentini side narrowly secured their Serie A status on the final matchday after spending several weeks near the relegation zone.

Following the conclusion of the season, Marco Baroni departed the club on June 10, reportedly due to differing perspectives on the team`s future direction.

Di Francesco quickly emerged as the leading candidate after the club held discussions with several potential replacements.

He was also considered for the coaching position at Cremonese but reportedly favoured the opportunity at Lecce`s Stadio Via del Mare.

Sources suggest the proposed contract is a one-year deal that includes an option for a second year, contingent upon Lecce successfully maintaining their position in Serie A.

This appointment provides Di Francesco with another chance to lead a top-flight club, following recent challenging periods, most notably his tenure at Frosinone which ended in relegation from Serie A this past season, and previous short spells at Verona, Cagliari, and Sampdoria.
