Inter captain Lautaro Martinez stated he remains proud of his team, even after their significant 5-0 defeat to PSG in the Champions League Final on Saturday.
The captain of the Nerazzurri shared his thoughts with Inter`s official website following the match in Munich.
“It was one of those nights where we couldn`t execute anything we had planned,” he commented.
“We congratulate PSG on an outstanding performance,” he continued. “They were flawless and fully deserved the victory. Despite the result, I feel immense pride in the team, the coaching staff, my fellow players, and the entire Club. We must now recover and look ahead. We had a commendable season overall, even without securing silverware. While this defeat is painful and leaves a bitter taste, it fuels our determination to improve. We gave our utmost effort; we did everything we could. This loss is tough, but my sense of pride remains.”
The final match in Munich set a record for the largest goal difference in a single-game European final between two teams.
Lautaro`s teammate Nicolò Barella suggested that PSG showed greater desire, while Francesco Acerbi remarked that PSG seemed to be playing with significantly higher intensity, appearing “twice as fast” as Inter.
