While acknowledging Lamine Yamal (19) and Ousmane Dembélé (28) as the main contenders, the French forward explicitly supported his international teammate and former Paris Saint-Germain colleague, Dembélé, for the esteemed France Football prize.
Mbappé himself has long been considered a future winner of the award. However, following a remarkable season with PSG, where he helped secure a historic treble including the club`s first UEFA Champions League title, Dembélé has emerged as the strong favourite to claim the individual honour over his compatriot.
Ousmane Dembélé is currently unavailable for France`s upcoming game against Germany on Sunday. He has been ruled out of the fixture due to a quadriceps injury. This injury is also expected to sideline him for PSG`s initial two matches in the FIFA Club World Cup tournament.
When directly prompted to choose between Yamal and Ousmane as the potential Ballon d`Or winner, Mbappé`s response was decisive: he declared his support for Ousmane.
