Juventus Confirms Pierre Kalulu Permanent Transfer

Football News

Pierre Kalulu joined Juventus after falling out of favor under Fonseca at AC Milan. With the Rossoneri having recently announced a new coach – who would later be dismissed just months later – the French defender found himself with limited opportunities. Juventus turned their attention to Kalulu after missing out on other defensive targets; Riccardo Calafiori was heading to Arsenal, while Jean-Clair Todibo was unexpectedly signed by West Ham, who edged out Juventus in the final stages of negotiations.

Transfer Fee Breakdown

Juventus has now exercised their option to make Pierre Kalulu`s move permanent, confirming their plans for the player`s future. The initial loan fee paid by Juventus last summer was €3.5 million. The permanent transfer requires an additional investment of €14 million. The deal also includes potential performance-related bonuses of up to €3 million, along with a 10% sell-on clause on any future transfer fee received for the player. This brings the potential total cost for the versatile defender to €20.5 million. Kalulu had shown promising form early on during Thiago Motta`s tenure, before the coach`s departure.

Kalulu`s Impact and Availability

Under both Thiago Motta and subsequently Igor Tudor, Kalulu was a regular starter whenever he was fit and available. He primarily featured as a central defender, with his only appearance at right-back for Juventus coming on his debut against Verona. Kalulu recently missed two league matches due to suspension after receiving a red card against Lazio. He also suffered a muscle injury in February that sidelined him, causing him to miss both legs of the Champions League tie against PSV Eindhoven.
