Julien Stéphan Agrees Two-Year Deal to Manage Queens Park Rangers

Football News

Julien Stéphan, formerly manager of Strasbourg and Rennes, has reportedly reached an agreement on a two-year contract to become the new head coach for EFL Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

The London-based club has been actively seeking a replacement following their decision to part ways with Spaniard Martí Cifuentes at the conclusion of the recent season. Cifuentes` departure came after he engaged in discussions with other English clubs without notifying QPR`s leadership. The team finished 15th in the second tier, with players like Jonathan Varane, the younger half-brother of Raphaël Varane, currently in their squad.

Stéphan, who has been out of management since leaving Rennes partway through the last season, was understood to be open to the prospect of coaching abroad and was particularly drawn to an opportunity in England. The 44-year-old, notably known for leading Rennes to the 2019 Coupe de France title, recently changed his representatives earlier this spring, indicating a desire to relaunch his career.
