Julien Stéphan Agrees Two-Year Deal to Manage QPR

Football News

According to reports, former Strasbourg and Rennes manager Julien Stéphan has agreed a two-year contract to take charge of EFL Championship side Queens Park Rangers. The London club was searching for a new head coach after parting ways with Spaniard Martí Cifuentes at the end of the season. Cifuentes was dismissed after holding talks with other English clubs without informing QPR`s hierarchy. The team finished 15th in the second tier at the end of the season, where Jonathan Varane, Raphaël Varane`s younger half-brother, is among its players.

Stéphan, who had been out of work since leaving Rennes early last season, was reportedly open to the idea of coaching abroad and was particularly attracted by the opportunity to work in England. The 44-year-old, best known for leading Rennes to their 2019 Coupe de France title, changed representatives this spring in an effort to relaunch his career.
