Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi was presented with a large Tapiro d’Oro award the day after Inter suffered a crushing 5-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. He accepted it, albeit reluctantly.
The Tapiro d’Oro, or `Golden Tapir`, is a tongue-in-cheek award given to public figures who have experienced recent humiliation or failure. It`s presented by the Italian satirical news show Striscia la Notizia.
Notably, Serie A figures like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alvaro Morata have also received this award previously this season.
Inzaghi Presented with Tapiro d’Oro Following Final Loss
Just under 24 hours after the final defeat on Sunday, Inzaghi encountered the presenters and was given the Tapiro d’Oro while travelling home.
While he accepted the award, he was clearly not in the mood for humour given the significant defeat Inter had just suffered.
He acknowledged that the Nerazzurri performed poorly and admitted that PSG were deserving winners.
Inzaghi commented, “I have always been a sportsman; defeat is painful, but we must accept it.”
