Inter see Stiller as perfect heir to Calhanoglu for 2025-26

Football News

Inter Milan is reportedly targeting Angelo Stiller from VfB Stuttgart as a potential successor to Hakan Calhanoglu, who is expected to leave. A swap deal involving Aleksandar Stankovic could potentially be part of the arrangement.

Following their exit from the FIFA Club World Cup against Fluminense, discussions surrounding Calhanoglu`s future intensified. Both captain Lautaro Martinez and President Beppe Marotta conveyed to the midfielder that he should seek a move if he is not genuinely enthusiastic about staying with the club.

With Galatasaray reportedly waiting, Inter now needs to identify and secure a suitable replacement. According to Sportitalia`s transfer expert Gianluigi Longari, Angelo Stiller is the player being pointed to as the primary target.

Stiller, who is 24 years old, has already earned four senior caps for the German national team and was a consistent presence in their Under-21 squad. He developed through the youth system at Bayern Munich before moving to Hoffenheim on a free transfer. He then joined VfB Stuttgart in 2023 for a reported fee of €5.5 million.

The Nerazzurri`s motivation to pursue Stiller may be further strengthened by reports indicating Stuttgart`s interest in Inter`s young player, Aleksandar Stankovic, according to the same source.

Aleksandar Stankovic, the son of former midfielder Dejan Stankovic, is currently part of Inter`s youth academy and is set to celebrate his 20th birthday next month.

Utilizing a swap deal format could help Inter manage the financial outlay for Stiller. However, Club Brugge is also reportedly interested in acquiring Stankovic during the upcoming summer transfer window.
