Inter Milan Considering De Zerbi and Fàbregas

Football News

Reports suggest that Inter Milan is evaluating Olympique de Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi and Como boss Cesc Fàbregas as potential candidates for their managerial position, following discussions about the future of Simon Inzaghi. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, initial talks are expected to commence soon, with other managers also being considered.

Roberto De Zerbi`s situation at Marseille was previously believed to be stable for the summer, especially after recent conversations with club owner Frank McCourt in the United States seemed to confirm his continued commitment.

However, a late report from Gianluca Di Marzio complicated matters by stating that Inter Milan had sounded out De Zerbi. Di Marzio highlighted that the Italian coach possesses a release clause in his agreement with OM that could potentially smooth a departure. Despite this, De Zerbi is reportedly seeking significant assurances regarding Inter`s transfer strategy and is said to be willing to move only if the squad undergoes substantial restructuring aligned with his tactical approach.

De Zerbi Responds to Rumours

The former Brighton manager addressed the speculation directly today while attending a ceremony where he was granted honorary citizenship in Foggia, a city he managed between 2015 and 2016. Speaking to Italian reporters, as transcribed by Foot Mercato, he stated, “I`m happy in Marseille and I haven`t received any calls from other clubs,” when questioned about the rumoured interest from Inter. He also mentioned, “I didn`t watch the Champions League final… because I was with my daughter at the Vasco Rossi concert.”
