Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konaté, aged 26, is reportedly looking for a new challenge away from Anfield, potentially as soon as next year. According to a report this Thursday, Konaté joined Liverpool in 2021 on a five-year contract after moving from RB Leipzig. The defender, who came through the youth ranks at Paris FC, has developed into one of Europe`s leading centre-backs and is now a regular for Didier Deschamps` France national team. Although contract negotiations have taken place with Liverpool, no breakthrough has been achieved.
The report suggests that Konaté is determined to see out his current contract and leave Liverpool as a free agent next summer. Several prominent European clubs are said to be monitoring the defender`s situation, including FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), and Real Madrid. It is further understood that Konaté`s preference would be a move to Real Madrid, where he would reportedly reunite with former Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold (26), who the report also claims ran down his contract to join the Spanish capital.
