The anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 launch of High on Life 2, the comedic first-person shooter from Squanch Games, has been postponed by a couple of months. Originally scheduled for April 20th on Nintendo’s upcoming console, the game will now be released on July 1st.
Squanch Games announced the delay, emphasizing that the additional development time is essential for delivering the highest quality experience. “The extra effort invested in production will ultimately allow the studio to better meet not only our high standards for gaming, but yours as well,” the High on Life 2 team explained in a statement regarding the postponement.
As a result of this revised schedule, all digital preorders for High on Life 2 have been canceled. However, players who preordered a physical edition can still expect to receive their copies, with shipments anticipated in July. The developer expressed gratitude for the High on Life 2 community’s patience and ongoing support as they finalize the Switch 2 version.
While the original High on Life received a somewhat mixed reception, its sequel garnered more favorable reviews upon its earlier release on Steam, Epic, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Critics noted that High on Life 2 demonstrates significant growth, balancing its characteristic humor with meaningful improvements. One review commented, “I came away from High on Life 2 pleasantly surprised. High on Life 2 has grown up in mostly the right ways, while retaining enough of its goofball personality to be a good hang when it counts.”
