Habib Diarra completes Sunderland medical ahead of club record move from Strasbourg

Football News

Habib Diarra, the 21-year-old midfielder, has successfully completed his medical examination, finalizing his transfer to Sunderland from Strasbourg. This move to the Black Cats represents a club record fee for Sunderland, reportedly worth €35 million.

Despite interest from clubs like Leeds United, AC Milan, and Eintracht Frankfurt, the Senegalese international reportedly favoured a switch to the Stadium of Light. Following the successful medical, Diarra is expected to sign a long-term contract with the North East club.

Diarra is reportedly seen as a potential replacement for Jobe Bellingham, who recently departed Sunderland to join Borussia Dortmund. He becomes the second player with recent Ligue 1 experience to join Sunderland this summer, following the earlier arrival of midfielder Enzo Le Fée from Lorient.
