Grégory Thil favourite to replace Loïc Désiré at Strasbourg

Football News

Loïc Désiré has departed from his position as Head of Recruitment at RC Strasbourg Alsace, taking on the role of sporting director at Stade Rennais.

His arrival at Rennes fills the vacancy left by Frédéric Massara, who served the Breton club for only one season. Désiré`s departure from Strasbourg was made official following the end of the Ligue 1 campaign.

The search is on for his successor, despite Strasbourg sharing resources with BlueCo, the owners of Chelsea. According to a report by Mohamed Toubache-Ter, Grégory Thil, the Technical Director at RC Lens, is considered the leading candidate to step into Désiré`s shoes at the Meinau. Thil has held his current role at Lens since late 2022, having progressed through scouting positions before becoming Technical Director.

Looking ahead to next season, Strasbourg will participate in the UEFA Europa Conference League, a result of securing a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 under the guidance of Liam Rosenior.
