Loïc Désiré has concluded his tenure as Head of Recruitment at RC Strasbourg Alsace and has transitioned to Stade Rennais, where he will serve as their new sporting director.
Désiré`s arrival at Rennes fills the vacancy left by Frédéric Massara, who occupied the role for just one season at the Breton club. Désiré`s departure from Strasbourg was confirmed following the close of the recent Ligue 1 campaign.
The search is now underway for Désiré`s replacement. While resource management is influenced by shared ownership under BlueCo (who also own Chelsea), reports indicate that Grégory Thil, the current Technical Director at RC Lens, is the frontrunner to take on the position at the Meinau. Thil has been in his technical role at Lens since late 2022, having previously advanced through scouting roles within the club.
Looking ahead, Strasbourg is set to compete in the UEFA Europa Conference League next season. This follows their seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 under the guidance of manager Liam Rosenior.
