Gonçalo Feio Set to Take Reins at Dunkerque

Football News

USL Dunkerque is reportedly close to finalising the appointment of Gonçalo Feio as their new head coach. This development comes after their previous coach, Luís Castro, was recruited by FC Nantes.

Feio, currently a free agent, recently departed Legia Warsaw after failing to agree on a contract extension. He had a successful tenure in Poland, guiding the club to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League, a run that notably included a victory over eventual champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Reports indicate that Feio is expected to arrive in Northern France imminently to sign his contract with the Ligue 2 club.

Despite operating with one of the more modest budgets in Ligue 2, Dunkerque enjoyed a strong season, finishing 4th. Their impressive league performance led them to the promotion playoffs, where they were ultimately defeated by FC Metz. The club harbours ambitions of achieving promotion to Ligue 1 for the first time in its history.
