Gavi Rejects PSG Transfer Rumors

Football News

Spain international and Barcelona midfielder Gavi, aged 20, has decisively rejected transfer speculation connecting him with a move to Paris Saint-Germain. In a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, he stated clearly that he sees his future solely with the Catalan giants.

The 20-year-old, currently with the Spanish national team preparing for Thursday’s UEFA Nations League semi-final against France, made a strong return this season after recovering from a lengthy ACL injury. He featured in 42 matches across all competitions, contributing three goals and three assists.

Even though his role was somewhat limited following his recovery, rumors about a potential exit, specifically to PSG, continued to circulate. The Parisian club has reportedly held a long-standing interest in the young midfielder, who has a close relationship with their current head coach, Luis Enrique. It was Enrique, during his tenure as Spain coach, who gave Gavi his first senior international cap in October 2021 when Gavi was only 16.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, the product of Barça`s famed La Masia academy reiterated his dedication to the Catalan club, stating: “Yes, it`s completely clear. People believe what they read in the media… I understand why people might think it`s possible. But it`s not going to happen. I`m very calm about it. My dream and my objective are to play my entire career at Barça.”

Following his contract extension with Barcelona until 2030 earlier this year, Gavi emphasized his strong desire to achieve success with the club he grew up supporting. He added: “It’s the club of my life, the one where I want to succeed. I don’t want any other, and I’ll give everything I have to make it happen.”
