Gavi Dismisses PSG Rumors: ‘Barça is the Club of My Life’

Football News

Spanish international and Barcelona midfielder Gavi (20) has emphatically denied rumours linking him with a move to Paris Saint-Germain. In a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, he stated that he only sees his future at the Catalan club.

The 20-year-old, currently with the Spain squad ahead of the Nations League semi-final against France, returned this season after a severe ACL injury. He went on to make 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

Despite a somewhat limited role following his recovery, speculation about a potential departure, particularly to PSG, persisted. The Parisians have long admired the young midfielder, who is known to be close to their head coach, Luis Enrique. It was Enrique, then Spain`s manager, who handed Gavi his senior international debut in October 2021 when the player was just 16 years old.

The Barça youth product reiterated his loyalty to the Blaugrana in the interview with Mundo Deportivo: “Yes, it`s absolutely clear. People believe what they read in the media… I understand why people might consider it possible. But it`s not going to happen. I am very calm about it. My dream and my goal are to play my entire career at Barça.”

Earlier this year, Gavi extended his contract until 2030, emphasizing his ambition to succeed at his boyhood club. “This is the club of my entire life, the one where I want to succeed. I don`t want any other, and I will give everything I have to make it happen.”
