From early on, it was apparent that Youssoufa Moukoko (20) was not destined for a lengthy stay at OGC Nice.
The German forward joined Nice last summer on a season-long loan from Borussia Dortmund. The agreement included an €18m option for a permanent transfer, but it soon became clear this clause wouldn`t be activated.
Moukoko scored only two goals for the club, both during the massive 8-0 victory over Saint-Étienne in September. Initially, he frequently appeared as a substitute in Ligue 1 but received more starts in the Europa League to demonstrate his abilities. However, he couldn`t find the net in eight Europa League matches, and Nice (`Le Gym`) finished second-to-last in their group without securing a win.
Following Nice`s exit from the Europa League, the young German forward largely disappeared from the team. His final appearance in any competition was in the Coupe de France against Stade Briochin in early February, and his last start in Ligue 1 dated back to October.
Consequently, after the Ligue 1 season concluded, Nice CEO Fabrice Bocquet confirmed Moukoko`s departure. It has also been reported that the German will not return to Borussia Dortmund.
According to reports, FC Copenhagen is reportedly nearing an agreement to sign the forward on a permanent basis. Moukoko is said to have already agreed personal terms with the Danish club, and the final details of the transfer are currently being worked out.
