Bo Svensson, a prominent former head coach in Germany’s Bundesliga, is reportedly on the verge of being appointed as the new manager of Danish club FC Copenhagen. The Danish native engaged in advanced discussions with the club throughout the past weekend, which followed Copenhagen’s decision to dismiss their previous manager, Jacob Neestrup.
The 46-year-old is widely expected to be officially introduced as Copenhagen’s new coach on Monday. Reports indicate he will sign a substantial long-term contract, committing him to the club until 2031. Svensson will be tasked with the immediate challenge of stabilizing the team after a particularly difficult campaign. This season saw the club finish in the bottom half of the table, subsequently placing them in the league’s safety-playoff round. Currently, the Danish giants maintain a six-point cushion above the relegation zone.
Svensson brings a significant amount of Bundesliga experience to his new role, most notably from his tenure at Mainz 05. During his four seasons with the 05ers, he notably led them to a 6th-place finish and secured a coveted spot in the Europa League. He also had a brief period at Union Berlin.
