FC Nantes is reportedly leading the competition to sign USL Dunkerque`s Luís Castro as their new manager.
Antoine Kombouaré was dismissed earlier this month, despite successfully keeping Les Canaris in Ligue 1 last season. Castro became a primary candidate after his impressive performance with Dunkerque, leading them on an unexpected push for the Ligue 2 promotion play-offs and reaching the Coupe de France semi-finals.
Nantes is currently ahead in the race for the Portuguese coach, who is also on RC Lens` radar. He recently turned down an offer from Shakhtar Donetsk. Castro prefers a move to the Beaujoire and has already engaged in discussions with the club.
Lens includes Castro on their three-person list to replace Will Still, now at Southampton. However, Les Sang et Or are reluctant to pay Dunkerque a transfer fee.
