FC Nantes is reportedly close to appointing Luís Castro, currently the manager of USL Dunkerque, as their new head coach.
This development follows the recent dismissal of Antoine Kombouaré, despite his success in keeping Les Canaris in Ligue 1 last season. Castro emerged as a prime candidate after a successful campaign with Dunkerque, guiding them towards the Ligue 2 promotion play-offs and reaching the semi-finals of the Coupe de France.
According to reports, Nantes is now leading the pursuit for the Portuguese manager. RC Lens is also said to be interested, listing him as a potential replacement for Will Still. However, Lens is reportedly unwilling to pay compensation for Castro.
It is understood that Castro recently declined an offer from Shakhtar Donetsk and is favouring a move to the Beaujoire, having already engaged in discussions with the Nantes club.
