Endrick is the latest player to fall victim to the injury woes plaguing Real Madrid. The seemingly endless injury crisis at the club this season continues to worsen in recent weeks. The 2024/2025 campaign has been, and will continue to be, marked by injuries until the very end. Following Camavinga, Mendy, Alaba, and Rüdiger, it is now the young forward who is set to be sidelined until next season. Endrick`s season is over as of today, allowing him to reflect on his first year wearing the white shirt and focus on improving for the upcoming campaign, where he will need to impress a new coach.
Two Months Sidelined
The Brazilian left the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium last Sunday experiencing unusual pain. He had to be substituted by Víctor Muñoz during the match, and at that moment, it became clear that something was not quite right. Endrick went to the ground in the 56th minute, holding the back of his right leg. The issue appeared to be discomfort, and both he and the medical staff decided not to take any risks. He walked off the pitch on his own, but slowly, barely able to jog or run. There was an injury. Yesterday, upon the team`s return to training, the pain persisted, leading him to spend the session in the infirmary instead of on the pitch with his teammates.
There, he was diagnosed with a more significant injury than initially expected. Real Madrid communicated the following via a medical report: “Following tests carried out today on our player Endrick by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the common hamstring tendon in his right leg.”
In other words, there is a considerable tear. This injury will keep him out of action until next season, requiring around two months for recovery. This is a tough blow for the 18-year-old, who may have been hoping for more playing time in upcoming competitions like the Club World Cup with the next season approaching. Now, he must focus on resting and recovering fully for the start of the 2025/2026 pre-season. His second year as a Real Madrid player will be crucial for his future at the club.
A First Year of Learning
Now that Endrick`s season is over, we can assess his first year as a Madridista. The year has been challenging for the player from Taguatinga. At just 18 years old, he arrived at the world`s most demanding club, and this, combined with intense competition in the forward line, has meant he has watched many matches from the bench. He has had limited opportunities in La Liga and the Champions League, but he has played a much more significant role in the Copa del Rey, and he has certainly made the most of it.
Endrick showed his best form in the Copa, scoring five goals in the six matches he played. He was crucial against Celta Vigo in the round of 16 and against Leganés in the quarterfinals. His best performance came in the semifinals against Real Sociedad, scoring in both the first and second legs.
In total, he has played 847 minutes this season across 37 official matches, accumulating 7 goals (five in the Copa, one in La Liga, and one in the Champions League) and one assist.
