Dunkerque head coach Luis Castro agrees Nantes move

Football News

According to Ouest-France, Dunkerque manager Luis Castro is nearing an agreement to take over the vacant head coach position at Nantes. Following the departure of Antoine Kombouaré after the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season, Les Canaris have reportedly identified the Portuguese coach as their preferred candidate to guide the eight-time French champions. Discussions between Nantes and Castro are said to have gone very smoothly, leading to a provisional agreement.

Reports indicate that Castro met with Nantes officials on Tuesday morning and left a strong positive impression. The 45-year-old had a successful spell at Dunkerque, guiding them to the Coupe de France semi-finals and a fourth-place finish in Ligue 2. A move to Nantes appears to be Castro`s priority, especially as another interested club, Lens, seems poised to appoint Pierre Sage instead. Since Castro is under contract with Dunkerque until 2027, Nantes must now negotiate a compensation package with the Seasiders to finalize the transfer.
