Cagliari is looking to significantly strengthen its midfield and has identified two key targets: Napoli`s Italian international Michael Folorunsho and AC Milan player Tommaso Pobega.
Under the guidance of new coach Fabio Pisacane, the Sardinian club aims for a less challenging season and a more secure position in Serie A.
The departure of Nicolas Viola as a free agent necessitates the addition of at least one new midfielder, and potentially two, to the squad.
Potential Midfield Arrivals
Michael Folorunsho is among the players being considered. He recently featured in the Italy squad for EURO 2024, highlighting his potential.
The versatile 27-year-old is currently under contract with Napoli until June 2029. He recently returned from a loan spell at Fiorentina, where opportunities were limited.
Tommaso Pobega is the other primary candidate. He will celebrate his 26th birthday later this month.
Pobega is a product of the AC Milan youth academy and has gained experience through several loan periods at clubs including Ternana, Pordenone, Spezia, Torino, and most recently Bologna.
Bologna held a €12 million option to make his move permanent but opted against activating it, reportedly hoping to negotiate a lower fee for the player.
