Reports indicate Burnley have agreed a deal worth approximately €18m with Lens for midfielder Andy Diouf, 22. They are also progressing quickly in personal terms with the player. Although Diouf was previously linked with Crystal Palace, the Eagles` failure to finalize terms with Lens could cost them the signing. This agreement was initially reported in principle by RMC Sport last night.
Talks between Burnley and Diouf`s camp are now at an advanced stage, with few contractual details remaining. It seems the Clarets are set to secure a significant signing for their Premier League comeback, unless Crystal Palace makes a late intervention.
Diouf has been a reliable performer for Lens since joining from FC Basel last summer. Notably, he was the only Lens player to appear in all 34 Ligue 1 games last season.
The France U21 international is strong in transitions and comfortable carrying the ball through midfield. While still developing his contribution in the final third, he has reportedly been monitored by Premier League sides since his time in Switzerland.
