Azzedine Ounahi, who gained prominence at the 2022 World Cup, has faced difficulties since joining Marseille from Angers after the tournament. Following a period out on loan in Greece last season, the Moroccan midfielder is reportedly still a target for Brighton & Hove Albion, who have admired him for a while and could make a move this summer, according to Foot Mercato.
Last season, Ounahi spent time on loan at Panathinaikos in Greece, where he revitalized his career, featuring 37 times and being voted the fans` player of the season. Despite his success there, Panathinaikos cannot afford the €11.5 million option to buy clause in his loan agreement. Consequently, he is set to return to Marseille, where it is understood he is not part of manager Roberto De Zerbi`s future plans.
Brighton, formerly managed by De Zerbi, are currently in discussions with Ounahi`s representatives. The player is reportedly eager for a transfer to the Premier League and has already given his verbal consent to join Brighton. The English club now needs to finalize an agreement with Olympique de Marseille.
