Brighton in Talks for Marseille’s Azzedine Ounahi

Football News

Azzedine Ounahi became widely known after his standout performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Following the tournament, the midfielder transferred from SCO Angers to Olympique de Marseille. However, he has since struggled to find consistent form and spent the recent season on loan in Greece. Despite this, Brighton & Hove Albion, who have long admired the Moroccan international, are reportedly still interested and could attempt to sign him this summer.

Ounahi`s loan spell at Panathinaikos last season proved more successful. He made 37 appearances and was even voted the fans` player of the season, helping to revive his career. Unfortunately for the Greek club, they cannot meet the €11.5 million purchase option agreed in the loan deal. Consequently, he will return to Marseille, where it appears he is not part of Roberto De Zerbi`s future plans.

Brighton, formerly managed by De Zerbi, are now reportedly in discussions with Ounahi`s representatives. The player himself is understood to be very interested in moving to the Premier League and has verbally agreed terms to join Brighton. The final step requires Brighton & Hove Albion to reach a transfer agreement with Olympique de Marseille.
