Borussia Mönchengladbach Players Stand With Rocco Reitz Amid Fan Protests

Bundesliga News

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s squad has rallied behind their captain, Rocco Reitz, after a segment of the traveling fans voiced their disapproval of his impending transfer to RB Leipzig during the team’s recent Bundesliga match. Despite the potential controversy, head coach Eugen Polanski opted to let Reitz lead the team onto the field against his future club.

While Polanski acknowledged the fans’ right to express their opinions through banners criticizing Reitz’s captaincy, he also noted that the player must “live with his decision.” In contrast, Reitz’s teammates offered more direct support for their colleague.

Team’s United Front for Rocco Reitz

“Rocco is our captain,” stated Borussia Mönchengladbach’s goalkeeper and Man-of-the-match, Moritz Nicolas. “We are a unit, and everyone supports each other. I would have preferred him to stay at Gladbach, but he has made his choice, and we have to respect that.”

Philipp Sander, another member of the current Gladbach squad and former captain of Holstein Kiel, commented, “It’s not an issue for us. Rocco is mature enough to understand that such a move would draw criticism. We, as a team, are behind him because he is crucial to us on the field.”

Striker Haris Tabakovic added, “Rocco remains our captain as long as Tim Kleindienst is sidelined through injury. We are all united to face the relegation battle as a team.”
