Borussia Dortmund has reportedly reached an initial agreement with Nils-Ole Book of Elversberg to take over as the club’s new sporting director, following Sebastian Kehl’s immediate departure on Sunday.
Book, widely known as the ‘pearl diver’ for his exceptional talent identification, has been instrumental in Elversberg’s remarkable ascent. Under his guidance, the club rose from the fourth tier to the 2. Bundesliga, even narrowly missing out on top-flight promotion after a play-off defeat.
During his tenure at Elversberg, Book orchestrated successful loan moves for promising players such as Nick Woltemade, Fisnik Asllani, and Paul Wanner, all of whom are now performing at a high level.
While Dortmund aims for a swift appointment to fill this crucial role, an agreement with the 2. Bundesliga club regarding Book’s release is yet to be finalized.
