Borussia Dortmund Celebrates Rote Erde Stadium Centenary with Special Jersey

Bundesliga News

Borussia Dortmund has unveiled a special centenary jersey to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the historic Rote Erde stadium. This unique kit will be proudly worn by the men’s senior team during their Bundesliga match against Hamburg on March 21st. Additionally, both the BVB women’s team and the club legends will sport the commemorative design in their respective upcoming games against Recklinghausen and Benfica.

The jersey’s design intricately incorporates key architectural and atmospheric elements of the stadium that have been preserved since its opening. The pattern on the front draws inspiration from Rote Erde’s distinctive entrance gates, particularly the iconic marathon gate. The sleeves, collar, and player numbering reflect the stadium’s characteristic running track, which has encircled the pitch and been a part of the sporting action for decades.

Furthermore, the overall color palette and the styling of the BVB logo pay tribute to the sandstone walls that have defined the stadium’s facade since its inception in 1926. A special inscription, “100 Jahre Stadion Rote Erde” (100 Years of Rote Erde stadium), is prominently featured on the back, emphasizing the historical significance of this milestone.
