Birmingham City Enter Talks for Rennes Striker Kyogo Furuhashi

Football News

Birmingham City are reportedly in discussions to sign Japanese forward Kyogo Furuhashi from Stade Rennais. Despite only joining the French club in January, the 30-year-old does not appear to have a future with Rennes.

Furuhashi was initially a target for former Rennes coach Jorge Sampaoli. However, the Argentine manager was dismissed just days after Furuhashi signed a two-and-a-half-year contract. His successor, Habib Beye, gave Furuhashi very little playing time. The Japanese international failed to score for Les Rouge et Noir.

Just five months after his transfer to the Breton side, Furuhashi is now one of several players Rennes is looking to offload during the current transfer window. According to reports, the former Celtic player could make a return to the United Kingdom.

Sources indicate that talks are underway with Birmingham City, who were recently promoted back to the EFL Championship. Additionally, clubs in Germany are also reportedly showing interest in the forward.
