Azzedine Ounahi, the 25-year-old midfielder currently with Olympique de Marseille, is understood to have reached an agreement regarding personal terms for a transfer to Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion.
The previous season saw Ounahi play on loan at Panathinaikos, a move that helped him reignite his career. He made 37 appearances for the Greek side and was voted their fans` player of the season. This positive spell followed difficulties at Marseille, which he joined after his impressive performances for Morocco at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
However, Panathinaikos was unable to activate the €11.5 million purchase option stipulated in his loan agreement. As a result, Ounahi is set to return to Marseille, where he reportedly does not feature in manager Roberto De Zerbi`s future plans.
Brighton have long admired the Moroccan international. According to recent reports, Ounahi has given his approval for the move to the English south coast club after productive discussions with their representatives, resulting in a verbal agreement for a four-year contract.
The focus now shifts to finalizing a transfer agreement between Brighton and Olympique de Marseille to complete the deal.
