Atlético Madrid is reportedly showing interest in acquiring RC Strasbourg Alsace captain Habib Diarra (21). According to recent reports, initial contact has been established between the two clubs regarding a potential transfer. Clubs from England are also said to be interested in the midfielder.
Sources suggest that the transfer fee for Diarra could potentially exceed €25 million. While Strasbourg is set to participate in the UEFA Conference League next season, a move to the Spanish capital would provide Diarra with the significant opportunity to play in the prestigious UEFA Champions League.
Diarra has made a total of 102 appearances for Strasbourg in midfield. The 2024-25 campaign was arguably the most successful period of Diarra’s developing career so far, as he contributed four goals and five assists in Ligue 1.
On the international stage, Diarra has earned 11 caps for Senegal. After coming through the French youth international setup, Diarra made the decision to represent his birth nation, Senegal, starting in March 2024. More recently, he found the net in Senegal`s historic 3-1 victory over England earlier this month, marking the first time an African side has defeated England.
Club president Marc Keller has confirmed that Strasbourg is prepared to allow Diarra to leave the club during the current summer transfer window.
