Following the official confirmation of his departure from Juventus, reports originating from Italy indicate that Cristiano Giuntoli could soon find a new role, with LaLiga club Atletico Madrid reportedly showing interest in the newly available sporting director.
Juventus officially announced on Tuesday that Giuntoli had left his position as sporting director through mutual agreement. This decision concludes his two-year association with the Turin-based club.
Despite his departure only being confirmed earlier in the day, reports emerging on Tuesday evening, notably from Gianluca Di Marzio, suggest that Atletico Madrid has expressed an `openness` towards bringing Giuntoli aboard. The Spanish side has been operating without a permanent sporting director since Italian executive Andrea Berta moved to Premier League club Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Juventus is now tasked with finding a replacement sporting director and appointing a permanent head coach for the upcoming 2025-26 season. The club`s senior management structure is currently being overseen by the recently appointed general manager Damien Comolli alongside club legend Giorgio Chiellini.
Giuntoli brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles. Prior to joining Juventus in 2023, he served as sporting director for Napoli for eight years. His career also includes a six-year tenure in the same capacity at Carpi and one season as technical director for Spezia during the 2008-09 campaign.
