Atalanta Searching for New Manager After Gasperini Agrees Roma Deal

Football News

With Gian Piero Gasperini having finalized an agreement to take the managerial helm at Roma on a three-year contract, Atalanta has officially commenced the search for his successor.

This significant move brings an end to Gasperini`s remarkably successful nine-season tenure with the Bergamo club. Reports indicate that despite late attempts by Atalanta to retain him and interest from Juventus, Gasperini has committed to replacing Claudio Ranieri at the Stadio Olimpio.

An official announcement regarding the termination of Gasperini`s contract with Atalanta is anticipated shortly, which is prompting the club to accelerate their efforts in finding a replacement.

Atalanta`s Potential Coaching Candidates

Several prominent names are understood to be on Atalanta`s shortlist. According to insights from transfer market expert Alfredo Pedullà, the leading candidates are Stefano Pioli and Maurizio Sarri.

For Pioli, a return to Serie A would first require negotiating a mutual contract termination with his current club, Al-Nassr. Meanwhile, Sarri, a free agent, is reportedly also a target for his former club, Lazio, creating competition for Atalanta.

Other individuals being considered, perhaps lower on the priority list, include Thiago Motta, who recently departed from Juventus, and the interesting prospect of Raffaele Palladino.

Notably, both Motta and Palladino have past connections to Gasperini, having played under him during their careers, and are believed to have integrated some of his tactical principles into their own coaching styles.

Palladino`s availability became clear following his abrupt resignation from Fiorentina yesterday, a decision that was formally accepted today.
