AS Saint-Étienne has officially completed the permanent signing of 27-year-old forward Irvin Cardona. The Ligue 1 side, recently relegated, confirmed the deal. Cardona had previously returned to Saint-Étienne on loan in January for the latter half of the 2023/2024 campaign. His initial loan spell last season was with Espanyol, but parent club Augsburg ended it early in the winter, paving the way for his move back to Les Verts.
Following their relegation on the final day, Cardona aims to play a key role in Saint-Étienne`s bid for an immediate return to the top flight, mirroring his efforts from a year prior. Les Verts concluded the Ligue 1 season second from bottom. Cardona has signed a long-term contract with ASSE, keeping him at the club until 2028.
Commenting on the move, the 27-year-old striker stated, “After two loan spells lasting six months each, it fills me with pride to be able to make a long-term commitment to this club. I am determined to keep improving and give my all to contribute to the project here.”
