AS Roma has announced its intention to adopt a contemporary interpretation of one of the team`s classic emblems as the official club crest, effective from the 2025-26 season.
Since 1997, the Giallorossi have utilized three slightly varied versions of the same crest. However, they will now revert to a modernised rendition of the logo previously used by the team during two separate periods: 1950-59 and 1961-77.
Club Confirms Emblem Change
The club`s owners, Dan and Ryan Friedkin, confirmed the forthcoming changes to the team`s logo in their message concluding the season.
Their statement read: “We are also proud to announce the progressive return of the historic ASR crest, a symbol that embodies the soul of this Club. This decision, taken with deep respect for our tradition and in response to the heartfelt wishes of our supporters, is a tribute to Roma’s identity.
“It reflects our belief that the symbols of a Club matter, and that honoring our roots is essential to building our future.
“Our family’s commitment to Roma has never been stronger. It is a commitment to excellence, to structure, to a clear identity. But above all, it is a commitment to the future of this Club — a future that includes a new stadium: a home worthy of our fans, a legacy for the next generations, and a gift from the Club to this eternal city. A majestic new colosseum, one we promise to deliver.
“We are truly humbled to be guardians of AS Roma. We are honor bound, completely committed, and faithfully dedicated to the preservation of everything that makes your Club and this city the best in the world.
“Together, as a team, we will continue to grow, to fight, to dream, and win.”
In addition to the crest announcement, the club also confirmed in their end-of-season statement that Claudio Ranieri will transition into a role as ‘manager and senior advisor to the ownership’ starting this summer.
The 73-year-old had previously served as interim head coach since November, following the departure of Ivan Juric, and will now assume a behind-the-scenes advisory position.
The Giallorossi also announced the appointment of Gian Piero Gasperini as their new head coach, following his nine-year tenure in charge of Atalanta.
