AS Monaco Reportedly Interested in Chelsea’s Djordje Petrovic

Football News

According to a report from Mohammed Toubache-Ter, Ligue 1 club AS Monaco is exploring the possibility of signing Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, aged 25.

Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro recently confirmed the club`s search for a new goalkeeper. In an interview, he stated, “We will look to sign a goalkeeper, and it will be up to them to fight for their place. We will chase a new goalkeeper.” This suggests neither Olivier Köhn nor Radoslaw Majecki are guaranteed their current roles.

The Serbian international spent the most recent season on loan at Chelsea`s sister club, RC Strasbourg Alsace. During his time there, he established himself as a key figure for the team, which came close to securing European football qualification on the final day of the campaign.

Following the end of his loan spell, Petrovic is set to return to his parent club, Chelsea. While it was anticipated he would compete for the number one position, he faces significant competition. Chelsea already have Robert Sánchez and Filip Jörgensen in their squad, although neither player has consistently impressed since moving to West London.

Strasbourg head coach Liam Rosenior previously expressed hope for Petrovic`s future. He told Alsa’ Sports, “I love working with him and hopefully, somehow, we can still collaborate in the future. Whether it`s here or elsewhere in five years. I`d like it to be next season.”
