Ansu Fati, aged 22, has faced difficulties in building upon the significant early promise he demonstrated at Barcelona. His loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion during the 2023/24 season did not fully succeed in putting the Spanish forward`s career back on track, and last season saw him limited to just 11 appearances for his parent club due to injuries.
Speaking during the player`s presentation on Thursday, AS Monaco`s CEO insisted, “First of all, I don’t see it as a bigger risk than other signings.” Fati has moved to the Principality club on a season-long loan agreement, which includes a potential permanent transfer option.
Fati himself is clearly motivated to recapture the level of performance that led him to be widely regarded as the next major talent just a few years ago. He stated during a press conference:
“I am fighting to get back to my best level, and I am here to try to do that.”
He further elaborated on his decision:
“I think that change is good! This season, I will be here. I want to thank the club where I grew up; Barça is where I grew up. It was a great experience at Brighton, too, even if others think differently. I had an injury, and I couldn’t be consistent. I want to bring that [consistency] here.”
