Andy Diouf’s Burnley move risks falling through

Football News

Recent reports indicated that midfielder Andy Diouf, aged 22, was nearing a transfer to Burnley. However, sources from L’Équipe now suggest that the proposed deal faces the risk of collapsing.

Initially, RMC Sport broke the news that the young French international was close to finalising a move to the newly promoted Premier League side. Subsequently, L’Équipe revealed that the player`s personal preference leaned towards joining Premier League rivals Crystal Palace instead.

Despite the player`s inclination, Burnley, unlike Crystal Palace, have successfully reached an agreement with Diouf`s current club, Les Sang et Or, for a transfer fee reported to be €18 million. This club-to-club agreement, coupled with what seemed like positive progress in personal terms with the player, led Burnley to feel confident about completing the transfer just 24 hours prior.

However, the mood has since shifted towards pessimism. Diouf has not yet given his final consent for the move to Turf Moor. Burnley is understandably reluctant to wait indefinitely and is pushing to quickly finalise the arrangements. This perceived ultimatum approach has reportedly not been well-received by the player`s representatives, significantly increasing the likelihood that the transfer may not go through.
