Amadou Koné Close to Joining Saudi Club Neom SC from Reims

Football News

Amadou Koné, the 20-year-old midfielder currently with Stade de Reims, is reportedly on the verge of signing for recently promoted Saudi Pro League team Neom SC. According to a report from L’Équipe, discussions for the transfer are at an advanced stage.

Despite Reims` relegation to Ligue 2 during the past season, both Koné and fellow midfielder Valentin Atangana managed to enhance their reputations through their performances. Following Les Stadistes` drop down a division, Koné`s departure was anticipated, and he had attracted attention from clubs across Europe.

L’Équipe indicates that the young Ivory Coast international had drawn interest from OGC Nice, while Leeds United, who recently achieved promotion back to the Premier League, were also among the clubs tracking him. However, it now appears that Koné`s next career step will be outside of Europe.

The midfielder is understood to be in advanced talks to complete a move to Neom SC. The potential transfer fee is estimated to be in the region of €12 million. Notably, the Saudi club is also reported to be nearing an agreement to sign Alexandre Lacazette, whose contract with Olympique Lyonnais is set to expire.
